RE:FRESH contains zero surfactants — it uses a biomimetic hydrogel polymer that captures impurities mechanically rather than chemically. This means it removes everything that doesn't belong without touching a single NMF molecule. The result is a fundamentally different post-wash feel: genuinely clean but never tight, dry, or stripped.
Yes. RE:FRESH works as a standalone daily cleanser and will outperform any standard foaming wash at maintaining your barrier and reducing post-wash tightness. However, RE:FRESH is not an oil cleanser — it cannot dissolve hardened sebum plugs or mineral SPF embedded deep in pores the way RESET does. For surface cleansing, RE:FRESH alone is excellent. For deep-pore evacuation, RESET + RE:FRESH as a two-step protocol is significantly more effective.
This is the most common first-time reaction, and it's important to understand: the squeaky-clean, tight feeling you associate with "clean" after a foaming wash is actually the feeling of your NMF being stripped. RE:FRESH doesn't create that sensation because it doesn't strip your NMF. Your skin will feel soft, clean, and slightly dewy after rinsing — not tight. If it takes a few days to trust that it's working, that's normal. Your skin will confirm it within the first week as tightness and rebound oiliness both reduce.
